The July 4th festivities kicked off in Union Point Park with Tommy Moore and his team creating a Guinness World Record - World's Largest Barbeque Bun. The bun weighed in at 1,336 pounds and fed more than 2,000 people! NC Governor Beverly Perdue, NC Representative Alice Graham Underhill, New Bern’s Mayor Lee Bettis, Thomas Jefferson (reenacted) and Linda Staunch, were some of New Bern’s most notable figures to join the Towns 300th Anniversary festivities. Tommy and his crew worked vigorously as they topped the bun with barbeque and coleslaw to have it ready to serve the hungary crowd.
